The International School of Tianjin is committed to information technology as a tool that is used in a safe and responsible manner by all members of our community for the respectful communication of information, collaboration of work, and global connections.
All teachers are teachers of information literacy and technology with a responsibility to develop all students as risk-takers and achievers that are comfortable and confident using information technology as a bridge in real life, now and in the future.
It is also the responsibility of adults within the community to model good practice of technology use. Students and teachers are expected to use technology in an appropriate manner. Access to computers, E-mail, the LAN, and the Internet entails responsibility. The school requires all users to obey all laws in effect within the country of China and to follow the school’s behavioural expectations when using computer facilities.
Coordinators and teachers provide students with specific and common conventions, models and guidance on note-making, paraphrasing and acknowledging all sources, such as books, journals or Internet sites. Teachers and students understand that the acknowledgement of sources extends beyond text taken from the Internet, CD-Rom, books, magazines and journals.
